Irresistible Mango Key Lime Pie: A Fresh, Flavorful Twist on a Classic Dessert
Few desserts capture the essence of summer quite like a Mango Key Lime Pie. If you’ve ever enjoyed the award-winning Mango Key Lime Pie from Publix, you know the delight of its creamy, tart, and sweet filling nestled in a buttery graham cracker crust. But what if you could enjoy all that tropical flavor at home—without the artificial colors, preservatives, and unnecessary additives found in the store-bought version? This homemade Mango Key Lime Pie recipe delivers all the lusciousness of the Publix classic, but with fresher, cleaner ingredients and a truly homemade touch.
Why Make Mango Key Lime Pie at Home?
Publix’s Mango Key Lime Pie is beloved for good reason: it’s a perfect balance of tangy key lime and mellow mango, with a smooth, creamy texture that’s utterly satisfying. However, as many fans have noticed, the store version contains artificial colors (like Yellow 5 and Yellow 6), corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, and preservatives. By making your own, you control every ingredient—resulting in a dessert that’s not only delicious but also free from unwanted extras.
If you love the Mango Key Lime Pie from Publix but want a fresher, cleaner version without the artificial ingredients, this recipe is for you. This no-bake Mango Key Lime Pie is bursting with real mango and zesty lime flavor, made with wholesome ingredients and zero eggs. It’s creamy, tangy, and sweet—everything you crave in a tropical dessert, but with a lighter, more natural touch. Best of all, you don’t even need to turn on the oven; just mix, chill, and enjoy a slice of sunshine!

For the filling
- 2-1/2 cups cubed fresh or thawed frozen mango (from about 4 mangoes)

- 1/2 can (7 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 1/2 cups cold heavy cream

Let’s Assemble This

Ataulfo Mango
Prepare the Crust
Start by adding the graham crackers, digestives, sugar, and cinnamon to a food processor. Pulse until everything is finely crushed, about 1 minute. With the processor running, gradually drizzle in the melted butter and continue mixing until the crumbs resemble coarse sand.
Transfer the mixture to a 9-inch pie plate. Firmly press the crumbs across the bottom and up the sides, using the bottom of a measuring cup or glass to create an even crust. Place the crust in the freezer for 20 minutes to set.
Make the Filling
- Add the heavy cream and ¼ cup cream of coconut to a blender. Blend on medium until the mixture becomes thick and fluffy with stiff peaks, about 1–2 minutes. Scoop the whipped mixture into a medium bowl and set aside. Leave the blender as-is.
- Pour ¼ cup cold water into a small saucepan and gently warm it without bringing it to a boil. Sprinkle the gelatin over the water and allow it to bloom for about 1 minute. Stir gently until the gelatin has fully melted into the water, about another minute.
- Place the mango, lime juice, condensed milk, remaining ¾ cup cream of coconut, and vanilla into the blender. Blend on medium-high until silky smooth, approximately 1 minute. Stop and scrape down the sides if needed.
- Pour in the dissolved gelatin mixture and blend on medium until everything is thoroughly incorporated.
- Add 1½ cups of the coconut whipped cream to the mango mixture. Blend just until smooth, light, and airy. Cover the remaining coconut whipped cream and refrigerate it for later.
- Pour the mango filling into the prepared crust, smoothing the top if needed. Place the pie in the refrigerator, uncovered, for at least 6 hours, or until completely set. It can be refrigerated for up to 2 days. If storing longer than 12 hours, loosely cover the pie with plastic wrap.
- When you’re ready to serve, pipe or dollop with the reserved coconut whipped cream and enjoy!

Mango Key Lime Pie
- Garnish your pie with fresh mango slices, lime zest, or toasted coconut if desired.
Tips for Success
- Use ripe, fragrant mangoes for the best flavor—Nam Dok Mai, Ataulfo, or Tommy Atkins, Haden work beautifully.
- For a vegan version, swap out heavy cream for plant-based alternatives and use sweetened condensed coconut milk.
- Let the pie chill thoroughly for the creamiest, most sliceable texture.
